Reflections Of A Quiet Storm
Patricia A. Bridewell

As CEO and owner of a new nursing registry, Pauline Bridges is striving to reach the height of success, and then unexpectedly tragedy strikes. After a near fatal automobile accident, she climbs from the wreckage unscathed. Shortly thereafter, God begins to reveal her past. Chronicled in a series of stories, her life unfolds through a long journey; a pathway that unveils many secrets that not even her children had been told. Memories, dreams and flashbacks of her mother's abuse at the hands of her stepfather, a rape during adolescence, her brother's stormy lifestyle, and the agony of a marriage that was destroyed by her ex-husband, Naman's infidelity and substance abuse, all return to torment her. You will refer back to it over and over again...We now offer a unique Christian book that challenges the reader to "live out your faith" day by day. This "life changing" book is one you will not want to put down... This mission is one in which you, the reader, will walk through the process of one women's quest to reach her husband for Christ. From Alabaster Box Publishing

Vengeance Is Mine; I Will Repay, Saith The Lord

Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

Looking Back And Looking Forward

‘O Lord, You are my God; I will exalt You and praise Your Name… You have done marvellous things’ (Isaiah 25:1). We remember what God has done for us. He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to be our Saviour. We rejoice in Jesus Christ who died for us. We rejoice in Jesus Christ who rose again for us. We look forward to the return of our Lord Jesus Christ. We look forward to the Day when ‘He will swallow up death for ever.’ On that Day, ‘the Lord God will wipe away the tears from all faces’. On that Day, we will look back and say, ‘Surely this is our God; we trusted in Him, and He saved us.’ On that Day, we will ‘rejoice and be glad in His salvation’ (Isaiah 25:8-9). Here and now, let us learn to ‘trust in the Lord’. We can trust in Him ‘for ever’. He is ‘the everlasting Rock’- ‘the Rock of our salvation’ (Isaiah 26:4; Psalm 95:1).

Christ Has Claimed Us For Himself. May He Have Every Part Of Our Life.

‘Christ Jesus has made me His own’(Philippians 3:12). In Paul`s words, we hear an echo of Jesus` words, ‘You did not choose Me... I chose you’(John 15:16). Christ has claimed us for Himself. He has laid claim to every part of our life. We are to ‘rejoice in the Lord always’(Philippians 4:4). We are to bring ‘everything’ to Him in prayer (Philippians 4:6). We are to be ‘content in all circumstances’(Philippians 4:11-12). We are to face every challenge with confidence in His strength - ‘I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me’ (Philippians 4:13). We are to trust Him to ‘supply’ our ‘every need’(Philippians 4:19). In every situation, we can come to the Lord, trusting in His promise: ‘the peace of God, which passes all understanding, will keep your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus’(Philippians 4:7). Whatever is happening, take it to the Lord in prayer and let Him give you His peace.

Studying The Many Different Occults

What is an occult? We hear the word in many circles, on television, in churches and even in forms of paranoia. However, what is the occult or a occult? What are the roots and history of the occult? and what does the Bible say about the occult?

In my online studies on the occult, I found that there are many different kinds of occults that hold many different beliefs systems. Many occults adapt different beliefs, systems of government and even cult symbols. Very much like corporations, social clubs, and even churches.

In all honesty, when it comes to the occult, there is no one occult, there are many. Of course satanism is considered a occult, and to dig into the depths and roots of satanism, the belief system and the overall practice of satanism is a intense study.

Truth is, there is so much information, the good, the bad and the down right silly regarding the occult, that you just have to take it in and make your own conclusion. However, let me encourage you to read and study sites that apply sound biblical advise and scriptural references.

Psalm 14:1 - “The Fool Says In His Heart, ‘There Is No God’” (Part Five).

The human situation can be changed. Jesus Christ changes everything. He changes people. Don’t be like the fool who tries to run away from God. This can be done by saying, “There is no God.” It can also be done by trying to keep God at a distance – “If there is a God, I’m not going to let Him tell me how I should live my life.”
Stop running away from God, and start running to the Lord Jesus Christ. Run to Him before it’s too late. Make sure that you can say, “I know whom I have believed” (2 Timothy 1:12). Jesus Christ is the True and Living Way to God the Father (John 14:6). When you come to God the Father through His Son, our Saviour, Jesus Christ, you will move beyond an empty faith which doesn’t make much real difference to your life. You will move into a living knowledge of Christ, who makes you “a new creation” (2 Corinthians 5:17). Your faith will be more than, “There is a God.” It will be “Christ lives in me. For me, to live is Christ” (Galatians 2:20; Philippians 1:21).

Psalm 14:1 - 'The Fool Says In His Heart,, "There Is No God"' (Part Four).

When the Psalmist speaks of unbelief – “There is no God”, he speaks also of sin – “All have turned aside, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one” (v. 3). We say, “There is no God” when we do not “seek God” (v. 2). We do not seek God when we do not take time to listen to what He is saying to us through His Word. We must note what God is saying to us in the first three verses of this Psalm 14 – “all have turned aside … there is no one who does good, not even one.” We are all sinners – every single one of us! None of us can look down on others and say, “We’re not like them” – “you are without excuse, every man of you, who passed judgment, for in that you judge another, you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things” (Romans 2:1). To every single one of us, the Word of God says, “There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God. All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even oneall have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:10-12, 23). Is there any hope for any of us? There is no way of salvation that begins with “I” – “no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by observing the law” (Romans 3:20). From the human point of view, our situation is hopeless. Is there a way of salvation which comes to us from God?
The final words of this Psalm are words of hope: “Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion! When the LORD restores the fortunes of his people, let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad!” (v. 7). These words teach us that salvation comes from God – “When the Lord restores … ” They teach us that His salvation comes to those who come to Him with a deep longing to be saved by Him – “Oh, that salvation … would come …"

Psalm 14:1 - “The Fool Says In His Heart, ‘There Is No God’” (Part Three).

What are we to say about those who say that “there is a God”, yet refuse to take seriously what He says to them through His Word? They may not actually say, “There is no God”, but their whole way of living is self-centred rather than God-centred. At the heart of their life, there is “a God-shaped blank.” The real God is more than just an idea which makes sense of our life. He is not only the God who loves us. He is also the God who changes us. Many people like the idea that God is love, but they don’t like the idea that God calls for a change in their way of living. We read the words, “The fool has said in his heart. ‘There is no God.’” Let’s not be too quick to say, “We are wise. We believe in God.” True wisdom doesn’t stop with saying, “There is a God.’” True wisdom knows that “faith without works is dead” (James 2:17). If we are to be really different from those who say that “there is no God”, we must commit ourselves to both listening to the Word of God and doing the Word of God (James 1:22).

Psalm 14:1 - “The Fool Says In His Heart, ‘There Is No God’” (Part Two).

Some people hold on to the idea that “there is a God” but they refuse to let God get too close to them. They like the idea of God. It makes sense of their life. There is, however, something about God that they don’t like. They don’t like the idea that God might have something to say to them about the way they live their life. They don’t say , “There is no God”, but there is very little about their way of life which suggests that they really believe that “there is a God.” Concerning such people, God’s Word says this: “God is not in all their thoughts” (Psalm 10:4). We could express this in another way: “God is in very few of their thoughts.” When thoughts of “God” do come into their minds, they are rarely thoughts which bring glory to God. When our minds are not being fed with the truth of God’s Word, we are wide open to thoughts of God which do not bring glory to Him. Such thoughts do not come from God’s holy Word. They come from “the god of this world” who “blinds the minds of the unbelieving” so “that they might not see the light of the Gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God” (2 Corinthians 4:4).

Psalm 14:1 - “The Fool Says In His Heart, ‘There Is No God’” (Part One).

There are some people who say, “There is no God.”Do we become wise the moment we say, “There is a God?”Let’s think about what we mean when we say, “There is a God.” We need to learn to move beyond the foolishness which says, “There is a God” without really listening to what God has to say to us. We need to learn to listen to God if we are to be led out of the way of foolishness and into the way of wisdom.
There are many people who do not dismiss the idea of God, but they rarely turn to the Word of God to learn more about Him. They like to draw some comfort from the words, “He’s got the whole world in His hands”, but they feel very uncomfortable when they’re reminded that “it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God” (Hebrews 10:31). When they’re asked if they believe in God, they tell us that “there must be something, somewhere.” When they’re asked what they believe about God, they have nothing else to tell us about Him. Their ‘god’ is not the God of salvation. Their ‘god’ is “an unknown god” (Acts 17:23). There also some people who have much to say about “God.” When, however, we look closely at what they say about God, we find that their ‘god’ is very different from the God of the Bible. They use the word “God”, but they do not listen to what God’s Word has to say to them.

Overcoming Depression

Depression is like a cancer. Once it sets in, it can overtake us and place us in bondage. Severe depression has a crippling effect. It steals and robs us of our joy and ability to experience happiness. Of course we could get into all the intense reasons and causes of depression. But enough of that.

I encourage those dealing with depression to enter into a place of prayer. What kind of prayer. Simply pray and talk to God. Tell him what you are experiencing and simply ask Him for help.

I encourage you to also find some praise and worship music that you like, listen to it and make it a part of your days. You see when we lift our voices up to God, give Him praise and worship Him. The Kingdom of God, meaning heaven, comes to earth. And when the Kingdom comes, depression leaves. Simply pray, worship and call upon Jesus!!!, and trust Him to do the rest.

Blessings, in the love of Christ

Noble Peace Prize

I'm at a loss. There are so many wonderful people that accomplish great things for humanity. People that sow goodness for years and years, for an entire lifetime, that make great sacrifices, and accomplish great things. Yet for some reason they are by passed and others that have accomplished very little seem to make the list.

One thing is for certain, the day will come when the books will be opened and rewards will be given and on that day many will see the true fruits that all have produced, from the least to the greatest.

That will be a day of beauty.

Free Bibles

We get many requests for Bibles from around the world through our Christian Ministry Network. Just imagine the great need for Bibles around the world. Daily people are coming to Christ nationally and around the globe. Sometimes Bibles are hard to come by. In fact I receive emails from missionaries, home churches and new church plants from around the world requesting Bibles and teaching materials. I just Googled free bibles and actually found quite a few ministries and sites that offer free bibles. Here's on that I found that I wanted to share with our readers, Free King James Version Bibles . There main ministry site is called Spirit 1 Christian Broadcasting Network

Popular Worship

I love to worship God. Worship brings heaven to earth and when heaven invades earth, things change and change for the good. Over the years I have collected a lot of great worship music, much of which is Vineyard Music.

If you've never visited the Vineyard Music web site, you might take the time to. They have a really cool site with lots of information, updates and great songs. Check out their popular worship songs list which has some great worship songs.

The Growing Loss Of American Jobs Situation

Today on the news they announced the recent un employment figures which continue to rise. Some I believe 7 million jobs have been lost since the recession started. The un employment rate is almost at 10%. Things just continue to be getting worse and America is soon to enter into the Christmas Holidays which is when retailers usually have there best months.

I think it's fair to say that somethings gone very wrong. From banking problems, to home foreclosures, to credit card problems to the stock market, which seems to be re bounding. America has seen many parts of the countries economy encounter deep problems to include huge corporate bankruptcies. Not to mention the trillions of dollars that the country is in debt.

It's time for America to get back to what made America great. It's time for America to hold the banner up high that says "Made In America" and not "Made Overseas". American's need to stop purchasing merchandise that is made overseas and start purchasing merchandise that is made right here at home, by American's. It's time to stop selling out.

Quote Of The Day

The words that you speak can bring blessings or curses upon you. Be wise, and speak forth blessings into your future. The opposite is like casting your line into life's ocean of sand, expecting to catch a fish.

Words are powerful. Use them wisely.

God Helps Us To Speak His Word. Let’s Pray That Sinners Will Be Saved.

Don’t worry about ‘what will happen tomorrow’. It’s in the Lord’s hands (James 4:14-15). We must not lose sight of ‘the purpose of the Lord’. We must remember that ‘the Lord is full of compassion and mercy’(James 5:11). We look forward to ‘the Lord’s Coming’ as the great Day of our salvation (James 5:7-8). We must not, however, forget God’s words of warning: ‘The Judge is standing at the door’. God speaks to us concerning ‘the misery that is coming upon you’. What is He saying to us here? – He is warning us: Be careful how you live – Don’t trust in riches. ‘Don’t grumble against each other’(James 5:1-3,9). The warning and the promise belong together. Those who are facing judgment can be brought to the Saviour. May God help us to speak His Word – the warning as well as the promise – , always praying that sinners will be saved (James 5:16,19-20).

By Many Infallible Proofs

To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:

The Passion of Christ was shown in Christ's death on the cross at Calvary. Jesus paid the ultimate price. This Humble King that laid His life down as a randsome for many. For truly we have been bought with a price.

Beaneath The Human Shell

What aroma do you put off. Do you have a sweet loving aroma about you. Are you sincere, truthful, loving, compassionate or do you smell liked rotten spoiled eggs? An egg yoke is protected by a shell. In side that shell is where the yoke is found. What's beneath you're shell?

We should all have a wonderful beautiful aroma about us, and not that of spoiled rotten eggs.

The Great God Debate

When it comes to debates, there have been many over the generations. People have been debating things for centuries to include life after death, religions, cultures, UFOs (ha ha) and many other things. Today there are worldwide debates going on over various topics, like the enviorment for one. Yet what is the greatest debate of all times. I decided to Google the words great debate and this came up,  Results 1 - 10 of about 45,100,000. Imagine that?

I'd say that God has been debated more times than anything. Is there a God, everyone asks at one time in their life. Funny part of it is, is that we all wonder how this all happened and how we got here. We look into the night sky with wonder and amazement. We see pictures of the universe, the solar system, planets, stars and simply in awe wonder. Then we read in the Bible:

These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens,
Mine hand also hath laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand hath spanned the heavens: when I call unto them, they stand up together.

Before you decide, make sure you read the Bible from cover to cover.

Jesus was ‘going up to Jerusalem’- to the Cross (Mark 10:32). He came to die, ‘to give His life as a ransom for many’(Mark 10:45). The death of Christ lies at the very heart of the Gospel (1 Peter 1:10-12; 1 Corinthians 1:23 1 John 1:7, 2:2 Hebrews 2:9). Don’t think, ‘Glory for me’(Mark 10:37). Think, ‘Glory to God’ (Mark 10:43-44): ‘God forbid that I should glory save in the Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ’(Galatians 6:14). Bartimaeus cried out to the Lord for mercy (Mark 10:47). ‘How embarrassing’, some people thought – ‘how undignified’ (Mark 10:48). When God is at work, some people don’t like it! They like everything to be dignified – dull and dead! When God is at work, people get converted. This may not please the ‘critics’, but it pleases God – and that’s what matters. Cry to God for mercy. Your prayer will be heard – and answered.

Hitting The Mark While Running Life's Race

What a mad house life can occasionally be. The demands, responsibilities, schedules, work, financial responsibilities and every other aspect of life can be like a mad house. Then of course there are those hidden and unseen situations that arise. Ouch!

It's like being in a race, running the fast lane of life and trying to hit the mark. Problem is that fast lane just never seems to end, and whatever mark we hoped to hit or accomplish seems to get lost in the lane changes, off ramps and on ramps of the freeway system.

Let me encourage you. If life is getting the best of you, slow down. Take some time, relax and simply put things into perspective. I also encourage you to spend some time in prayer seeking God for His perfect will in your life. You see, when we get into the flow of God's river, the ride is so much easier and so filled with joy.

Bad Hair Day People

There's nothing worse than bad hair day people. People that are always looking for some dramatic situation to unfold to make their day seem worth wild. People that are always gossipping about the latest, meddling in other peoples affairs, pointing fingers at others, judging and creating drama. I just don't understand that mind set. As if peace, happiness and joy escape them. What kind of life is that?

Life is beautiful, it is wonderful and it is filled with wonder. Yes, there are those days, weeks and sometimes seasons, but why with intent create difficulties and hardships. Why light the fire, place the skillet on it and jump into the skillet. And the worst part, why expect others to jump into the skillet with you.

Trade your bad hair day mentality in for days of peace, balance, and sound mind.

How Do You Define Terroism

We've all heard about terrorism. It didn't start with 911 and the attacks against The United States. It started long ago. Even back in the days of Christ it was present and long before. Just imagine being taken hostage and fed to lions. Just imagine being taken hostage and forced to fight another human being to the death.

What about what was done right here in the United States. What about the Indian Nations, the wars? What about the slave trade and what was done to the people of the African nation that were brought here in chains and irons? What about abortion? Do not all these things qualify as terrorism?

I guess it depends upon how you look at it. I would imagine that even the people of Iraq, the everyday citizens, the mothers, father and children were terrorized. Just imagine a bomb killing your entire family and your just a child. I would imagine that every time a bomb falls on the innocent, they feel terrorized. So what is a terrorist? Is it a group of people that blow people up, blow up cars to kill people, that attack hotels, take hostages and so on? Yes, that is definitely a form of terrorism.

Personally, I feel that anytime a human being's life is being threatened regardless of the reason or so called justification. That is terrorism. Life, all life, should be held with the very highest of regards, respected, protected at all cost, not taken by acts of terror. And to sacrifice the innocent to root out the evil, is a great sin.

Love conquers all things, love overcomes all things, for love not killing, is the greatest of all gifts.

God Projects In The Fast Lane

Have you ever noticed how many times we seem to get into high gear before we shift from 1st to 2nd to 3rd and to 4th. This happens in churches, in ministries and in our personal lives. Personally I have found God, my walk with God and the Christian life to be season after season of change and that God is in no hurry. Considering that Christ died upon the cross over 2,000 years ago and countless generations and seasons have unfolded, that in it's self proves that God is a patient God. After all, God could have judged the world 1,000 years ago and called His Bride home, yet here we are, still awaiting the second coming of Christ.

Many times, we just flat out get in a hurry. We get so far ahead of God, His plans and His purposes that we are creating our own agenda's while thinking and believing we are in God's Perfect Will. I've oftened wondered this in regards to the size of our online ministry which has grown to over 150 separate ministry blogs, not counting all the other blogging communities that we are involved within. Yet and again, I feel this overwhelming call to share the love of Christ and His Redeeming Passion with the world.

Sometimes God Projects in the fast lane are fruit full. Thank God when the Holy Spirit is involved.

The Fruit Of Compromises

Jesus spoke of the man who built his house on solid foundation vs. the man that built his house on sand. One was built on rock solid foundation, while the other was not. Jesus went on to say that the house built on the solid foundation could withstand difficult times, that the winds could blew and the house would remain, but that the house built on sand would not stand and great would be the fall of it. Just imagine the endless situations and circumstances that this application could apply to.

Sometimes it's possible to start out on solid foundation and slowly be moved to unstable foundation. One way for this to happen is through compromise. We all occasionally compromise, however if we continue to walk in compromise it can cause a shift and that shift can lead to unstable grounds.

When this happens, we must examine situations, ourselves, and the path that we have taken. For it's easy to get off course in today's world.

There are blessings found in the straight and narrow.

The Sound Doctrine Test

As Christian's and especially babes in Christ. We must always be careful of what we are chewing on. If it doesn't line up with God's Word, we might just find that we are chewing on meat that is not from God. That's why it's so important to read and study God's Word. Otherwise we might find ourselves receiving another gospel, and following the teachings of men that are not scriptural.

There are blessings in reading, studying and understanding God's Word.

Expecting Others To Make Up For Our Own Decisions

We all have expectations. Sometimes we place expectations on others that others can't meet. Sometimes we just flat out expect others to meet our needs and the truth is that we are placing burdens on others. For example: someone overeats all the time, they eat junk food, they snack on candies and refuse to control there eating habits. They lay around and refuse to exercise and this goes on for months and months and months. They see the affects of their own desires and refusal to apply wise counsel, the counsel of others, yet. Then when nature has taken it's course and the pounds add up, they blame others and expert others to change their lifestyle to meet their needs.

Well that is just one of hundreds of examples that we could use, however the end result is that the person that created their very own situation expects others to fix it. It just doesn't work that way, and to expect others to change their lifestyle in order to fix the very problem that their own decision brought forth is not reality.

Every person should be accountable for his own decisions and actions and not attempt to blame others.

The Dangers Of Gossip

Gossip is dangerous. It does not produce Godly fruit. It wounds others, created strife and is like a fire that can quickly burn out of control.

The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly. He that goeth about as a talebearer revealeth secrets: therefore meddle not with him that flattereth with his lips. Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out: so where there is no talebearer, the strife ceaseth.

Blessings are upon those whom do not gossip.

Resting In God

I love to rest in God. Life comes with many different challenges and sometimes those challenges can overwhelm us. Over the years I've learned a very important fruit of the Spirit. Patience! Within such, I've learned to rest in God, to not respond so quickly or become easily offended by situations. I simply take a deep breath and start praying when situations arise. When we rest in God, we find God's peace, wisdom and counsel flowing and that simply calms the storms. It helps us to put things into perspective.

Let me encourage you to rest in God when things seem to overwhelm you. Remember, yesterday is gone, today is here, and tomorrow will take care of it's self. Allow Jesus to calm the storms, and allow the Holy Spirit to minister peace to you.

Blessings are found in resting in God.

Marketing Christianity

Have you ever asked yourself what is the business of the Kingdom. Jesus said that He was about His Father's business. Jesus also called the money changers and those selling merchandise out side of the Temple, some pretty harsh things.

When you read the Bible and the accounts of Jesus and the Apostles, what do you find? Do you find a huge marketing concept? Do you find a huge merchandising concept? Did Jesus and the Apostles set up store fronts, open business and market God's Word, Salvation, Redemption and charge admission on the Day Of Pentecost.

Yet today, church's are big business. I've been pondering that a lot lately, wondering if such things are being about the Father's business.

Micro Managing Kingdom Authority & Principles

Every church that I have ever attended had a prayer ministry. Prayer is one of the heart beats of church. Prayer is important, and Jesus said "My House shall be called a house of prayer". There are many scriptures in the Bible that speak of prayer from the book of Genesis to the book of Revelations. There are many accounts of Christ praying, the Apostles praying, and also many accounts within the old testament about prayer.

Prayer in many ways is the lifeline of our communication with God. Through prayer we communicate with God, make our requests known to Him, enter into His presence and stand the gap as watchmen for others. It is good to pray for others. In fact, it is a humble privilege to pray for others.

In the book of Acts prayer and the laying on of hands are mentioned in various sections of scripture. In many church's today prayer and the laying on of hands is actively pursued and the ministry of the Holy Spirit flows freely.

Actually God made prayer very simple. It doesn't take some spiritual giant to pray for people. It just takes a willing vessel to step out in faith and allow the Holy Spirit to be the Holy Spirit. It's when fear, lack of faith, a religious spirit, the precepts of men and having a good church service show gets in the way and hinders the Holy Spirit, that prayer ministries become inaffective. That well scripted situations.

It amazes me how we sometimes turn the Kingdom of God into this well micro managed process as if we could add something to it. It amazes me how we sometimes take the simplest of things and make them difficult and within that process diminish the power of such. It also amazed me how we have ears to hear, eye's to see, the doctrine and teachings of the Apostles, yet we create new doctrines.
I somehow don't think Jesus had that in mind.

The Ware Zone Of Every Christian

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

I'm not going to write about the above scripture other than to say this. When you find yourself in a battle consider the above scripture and the following scripture.

Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Now read Eph 6:11-18

As The Years Unfold

As Christians, our walk with God will encounter many seasons. There will be seasons of joy and seasons of occasional heartache, there will be seasons of peace and seasons where peace seems far from us. There will be seasons of great abundance and seasons of lack. There will be seasons whereas God is ever so close and seasons when God seems far and distant. Within these seasons and many other seasons that we will walk in and through, there is one thing that we must know and fully trust in. That God will never leave us or forsake us. That God loves us and cares for us, and that we are His beloved.

Blessings in the eternal love of God.

Some Thoughts On Preaching

“The bigger the truth we try to speak the smaller the words we should use, and the shorter sentences” (Ian Pitt-Watson). Good preaching does its hearers good. Our concern is not to impress people with our eloquence. Our goal is to direct attention away from ourselves to the Saviour. We should aim to be simple, sincere and spiritual.

Rising Above Potential Disasters

Just imagine if your house was not built on concrete, but rather sand. Things could become very unstable at any given time. A earthquake could occur, or a winter storm. There could be a flood, or even a mudslide. The results could be very bad. Just imagine all the potential possibilities for disaster if your house was built on sand. Now imagine your life being built on sand.

Here are the words of Jesus on the matter. Life changing words that are over 2,000 years old, yet eternal.

Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

They key is reading, knowing and understanding the sayings of Jesus.

Living A Victorious Life

What is living a life of victory? How do you measure a life of victory? Is it wealth, possessions, material things, health, who you are, what you accomplish, what others say about you? Well I guess many would say yes. However consider this. Living a victorious life just might be a life of blessing others. In other words having the ability to do good, to make a difference and to be a world changer. Regardless of how we might all see what it is to live a victorious life. One thing is certain. With God's blessings and favor, living a victorious life gets a whole lot easier.

Empowering The Forces Of Darkness

The tongue is a small member that can start major fires. Many times one person will open their mouth and cast forth slanderous statements about another. Many times those words fall into the ears of others who pour out gasoline on the fire. Before you know it, everyone's having a bon fire. Gossip and slander are not Kingdom seeds. They are seeds of the flesh, the carnal mind and they empower the forces of darkness.

Remedy: Repentance ....

Worship The Lord With Awe. Worship Him With Joy.

Psalm 8 is a hymn of praise. It proclaims the glory of the Lord in His creation. The focus is not so much on the glories of nature. The great theme is the glory of Him who created nature. The Psalm begins and ends with the praise of God – O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens” (v. 1); “O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!” (v. 9) ... May God help us to worship Him with both awe and joy. As we rejoice in the Lord, let us not forget that He is the awesome God. As we bow before His majesty, let us not forget His love. Remembering how much He loves us, our hearts will be filled with true and lasting joy.

-----

The Glory of the Lord in His creation - Let's worship Him with both awe and joy (Psalm 8)

Worshipping The God Of Our Salvation (Psalm 9)

"I will praise you, O LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonders. I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing praise to your name, O Most High" (1-2).
We worship God as those who have come to trust in Him as the God of our salvation - "The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you" (9-10).
Trusting in the Lord, the God of our salvation, our worship is heartfelt worship - "I will praise you, O LORD, with all my heart" (1).
Trusting in the Lord, the God of our salvation, our worship is joyful worship - "I will be glad and rejoice in you" (2).
-----
Praise God For His Deliverance (Psalm 9).

Cash For Clunkers

I'm sure that you've heard about the cash for clunkers program. What a great idea. The government should extend it. It helps our citizens get rid of junk and older cars. It helps the economy. It helps the environment and it also helps make our highways and roads safer.

It also cuts down on fuel consumption, auto repairs, insurance costs and all sorts of other things for the everyday citizen. Heck, billions were pumped into failing banks and corporations. This just seems to be the right thing to do.

They should have done something like this with the housing market like let the homeowners borrow the money at a very low rate, pay the bank note off and keep their homes. That way the banks would prosper and so would the homeowners. Just imagine it ....

Jesus Christ - The Great King

“Who is this great King?” (Psalm 24:8, 10) The Psalmist tells us – “He is the Lord, strong and mighty, the Lord, victorious in battle … The triumphant Lord – He is the great King!” (vs. 8, 10).

When we turn to the New Testament, we learn that Jesus is the great King. Jesus is the Lord. Jesus is strong and mighty. Jesus is victorious in battle. Jesus is the triumphant Lord. Jesus Christ is the Name which jumps out at us from the first chapter of Ephesians. Everything is centred upon Christ ...

"Who Is This Great King?" (Psalm 24:8, 10) - Jesus Christ: Everything Is Centred Upon Him (Ephesians 1).

Burdensome Religion And Joyous Faith

Burdensome religion and joyous faith are worlds apart. they are exact opposites.

“I have to” – How shallow and superficial is “I have to” religion. The man or woman who thinks like this hasn’t even begun to appreciate the great love of Jesus Christ.

What a far cry this is from a truly heartfelt and joyful Christian faith! ... Have you begun to appreciate something of the great love of God, which is revealed in His Son, our Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ? If you have, you will count it your great privilege and wonderful pleasure to come to His Table and remember His love for you, with joyful and heartfelt thanksgiving.. . If your real interest is Christ, you will grow into a deeper sense of heartfelt gratitude to his Saviour. If your interests centre on other things, you will, perhaps gradually yet nonetheless definitely, forget about your Saviour ...

Burdensome Religion And Joyous Faith - They're Exact Opposites: "Blessed is the man" whose "delight is in the law of the Lord" (Psalm 1:1-2).

Another "3:16" To Set Alongside John 3:16!

In John 3:16, we read these wonderful words concerning God's love: "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
Here's another "3:16" - "So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth" (Revelation 3:16).
This "3:16" leads on to some other words about God's love: "Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest, and repent" (Revelation 3:19).
Called to repentance by the God of love, we hear the great promise given to us by our Saviour: "Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20).

Our Mssion Looks Forward To The Coming Son Of God.

Jesus Christ is "King of kings and Lord of lords" - the coming Son of God. In our age, it isn't always very clear what people mean when they speak about mission. Sometimes, it seems that there are those who have such a this-worldly way of speaking about the Christian mission that we wonder whether they really believe that Christ will return in great power and glory. Some speak of the future, but they speak only of salvation without ever speaking of judgment. When the book of Revelation speaks of Christ as "King of kings and Lord of lords", it doesn't lead our thoughts in a universalist direction. Jesus Christ is "the King of love" (paraphrase of Psalm 23). He is also "the King of glory" (Psalm 24). I fear that many of today's theologians start from the idea that "love is God". They have an idea of what love must mean. They apply that idea to God. They quote the words, "God is love." They do not, however, learn, from the Scriptures, what God is like. If they had come to the Scriptures with a real desire to hear all that the Scriptures have to say to us, they would not have placed such a one-sided emphasis on love and salvation. They would also speak of holiness and judgment - "We must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ... Knowing, therefore, the terror of the Lord, we persuade men" (2 Corinthians 5:10). The warning of the Gospel needs to be heard as well as the promise of the Gospel.

Our Mission Is Empowered By The Living Spirit Of God.

Our mission is to communicate to this generation. We are not to be clones of the Early Church Fathers, the Reformers, the Puritans, Wesley, Whitfield, Spurgeon, Moody. All of that belongs to the past. We are in the present. Here, we must affirm our faith in the living Spirit of God. Where do we most sense the presence of the Spirit of God? We enter into the Lord's presence as we call upon His Name in prayer. As well as our commitment to the ministry of God's Word, there is to be a commitment to continuing to be faithful in prayer (Acts 6:4). How are we to come to God in prayer? - "We have a great High Priest ... Jesus the Son of God ... Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace ... " (Hebrews 4:14-16). The knowledge that Jesus Christ is our great High Priest encourages us to keep on praying. In an age where the methods can be become more important than the mission, we need to be reminded that "prayer is evangelism with all its carnal trappings shorn off" (William Still). That doesn't mean that we only need to speak to God. It does mean that our speaking to sinners should always be grounded in our speaking to the Saviour of sinners.

Our Mission Is Grounded In The Written Word Of God.

Our mission is grounded in the written Word of God, which has been given to us by divine revelation. If what we call "prophetic ministry" is not thoroughly grounded in the Word of God, we have surely abandoned our God-given foundation for mission and we have forfeited the right to speak in His Name. What do we have to say to the present day? What do we have to say to guide people towards the future? Unless our faith is firmly rooted in what God has spoken to us in Scripture, we are making it up as we go along. Our talk about relevance has taken on a life of its own. We have forgotten that the call to be faithful must take priority over the clamour for relevance. God calls us to "ask for the old paths." He calls us to "walk in the good way" (Jeremiah 6:16). Old doesn't necessarily mean better. New is not to be written off just because it's new. In a single verse, we have a very thought-provoking combination - "the old paths" and "the good way." In our mission, we must take care that we do not forget that we are called to "contend earnestly for the faith once for all delivered to the saints" (Jude 3).

Mar 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

Mar 16:17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

When You’re Down, Look To The Lord. He Loves You. He Will Lift You Up.

Life is full of ups and downs. For Elijah, there was a very high point. He prayed. ‘The fire of the Lord fell’. ‘All the people said, ‘The Lord, He is God’’(1 Kings 18:37-39). This was followed by a very low point: ‘O Lord, take away my life’(1 Kings 19:4). We are so changeable. Often, we feel like we are being torn apart. Our emotions pull us in different directions. Sometimes, we are full of joy. At other times, we are at the point of despair. We find ourselves in a turmoil of confused emotions. What are we to do? Are we to ‘pull ourselves together’? This seems to be the very thing we can’t manage to do. Are we to ‘hope for the best’- ‘Some day, some way, things will get better’? We think about this, and we wonder, ‘What happens if things get worse?’! Look to the Lord. His love is unchanged, unchanging and unchangeable.

Jesus Christ Has Died For Us - The Righteous For The Unrighteous.

Some die young. Others live to a ripe old age. None of us can predict what lies ahead of us. There are some things that are beyond our control. We look at what is happening and we say, ‘I wish things could be different’. Absalom had been killed. David wished he could have died instead of him. It was not to be. Each of us must die our own death: ‘No man can redeem the life of another or give to God a ransom for him that he should live on for ever and not see decay’(Psalm 49:7-9). The ransom for a life is costly. No payment is ever enough. There is, however, a ‘Man’ who has died for us - Jesus Christ, ‘our Lord and our God’. He ‘gave Himself as a ransom for all’. ‘Christ died for sins, once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God’(John 20 28; 1 Timothy 2:5-6; 1 Peter 3:18).

Jesus Is The Way Of Salvation, Joy And Victory.

* Jesus is the way of salvation - Concerning "the Name of Jesus Christ", Peter tells us that "Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:10, 12).
* Jesus is the way of joy - Jesus tells us, "In the world, you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world" (John 16:33).
* Jesus is the way of victory - Paul gives to us this word of encouragement: "Thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ" (1 Corinthians 15:57).

As We Approach The Lord's Table, He Is Waiting To Welcome Us.

Once we were innocent. Now we are guilty. The story of Adam and Eve is repeated over and over again. This is our story as well as Adam and Eve’s story. Even in the face of sin, we see something else. We see the God of love, seeking to restore the fallen to Himself. In His words, ‘Where are you?’, we catch an early glimpse of the Gospel of salvation: ‘the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost’ (Luke 19:10). Adam and Eve had lost their way. Now, God was looking for them to bring them back to Himself. In the question, ‘Where are you?’, there is the searching question, ‘What have you done?’, but there is also the passionate appeal, ‘Will you not return to me?’. This is the call of mercy: ‘Softly and tenderly, Jesus is calling, Calling, “O sinner, come home”’ (Sacred Songs & Solos, 414). Our loving Father is waiting patiently to welcome the returning prodigal (Luke 15:20).

As We Sit At The Lord's Table, He Gives Us His Forgiveness.

We are not to pray to God with superficial words that don’t mean very much to us. Our prayer is to be a real cry from the heart: ‘Out of the depths I cry to You, O Lord’ (Psalm 130:1). We are to ‘cry for mercy’, with a deep awareness of how sinful we really are: ‘If You, O Lord, kept a record of sins, O Lord, who could stand?’ (Psalm 130:3). We must come to God with deep humility - ‘My heart is not proud, O Lord’ (Psalm 131:1). When we truly confess our sin, we receive God’s ‘unfailing love’ and ‘forgiveness’ (Psalm 130:4). ‘In the Lord’ we have ‘full redemption’ (Psalm 130:7). It is for ‘now’ - ‘The vilest offender who truly believes, that moment from Jesus a pardon receives.’ It is ‘for evermore’ - ‘But purer and higher and greater will be our wonder, our transport, when Jesus we see!’ ‘Praise the Lord! ... Give Him the glory!’ (Psalm 131:3).

As We Rise From The Lord's Table, He Will Give Us His Srength.

‘How can we sing the songs of the Lord while in a foreign land?’ (Psalm 137:4). It is not easy to keep on worshipping the Lord when so many show no interest in worshipping Him. What are we to do when our faith seems so weak and we are on the verge of giving up? ‘Ask the Saviour to help you, comfort, strengthen and keep you.’ What will we find when we come to the Lord, looking to Him for strength? ‘He is willing to aid you. He will carry you through.’ God gives us strength - ‘You answered me when I called to You. With Your strength, You strengthened me’ (Psalm 138:3). ‘To him that o’ercometh, God giveth a crown. Through faith we shall conquer, though often cast down. He who is our Saviour, our strength will renew. Look ever to Jesus. He will carry you through.’

The Prophetic Time Clock

It's still ticking, as the prophetic time clock moves us closer and closer to that time. Situations around the world and world events are evidence of that very factor.

Are you ready for the return of Jesus Christ?

New Life For Levi (Mark 3:14).

* His name was LEVI.
* He was EVIL.
He was a tax collector, making a fortune for himself at the expense of other people.
* He began to LIVE when he followed Jesus.
What a wonderful message there is in the conversion of Levi.
Our Saviour still calls sinners to make a new beginning with Him (Mark 3:17).
Let's be like the new Levi - "He arose and followed Jesus" (Mark 3:15).

Friendships Gone Sour

Sometimes people let you down. Sometimes intentionally and other times un intentionally. Sometimes people wave gifts in front of you and come across as friends only to later show their true colors. Sometimes friendships prove to be less that friendships.

There is one that sticks closer than a brother. His name is Jesus, and he will never leave you, nor forsake you.

We Forget The Names. God Doesn't (1 Chronicles 6).

The names tell a story - the story of what God is doing among His people. They speak of the faithfulness of God. He loves every one of these people. He loves every one of us. We forget the names. God doesn’t. Everyone is important to Him. We rejoice in ‘the great love of God’. We rejoice in Christ ‘who came to this earth to redeem every one’. In the many names, forgotten by us yet remembered by God, we hear the message, ‘God is love’. Among the many names, we read of those who ‘ministered with song’. We read of ‘the service of song in the house of the Lord’ (1 Chronicles 6:31-32). God is calling us to worship Him: ‘Sing aloud, loud, loud! Sing aloud, loud, loud! God is good! God is truth! God is beauty! Praise Him!’

The Power Of Heaven's Love

Rom 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

Rom 8:36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

Rom 8:37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

Rom 8:38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

Rom 8:39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

An Open Door In Heaven

Rev 4:1 After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard [was] as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.

Rev 4:2 And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.

Tried In The Fire

Rev 3:14 And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;

Rev 3:15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.

Rev 3:16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

Rev 3:17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:

Rev 3:18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.

Rev 3:19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

Rev 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

Rev 3:21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.

Rev 3:22 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

Marriage Suggestions

Eph 5:22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

Eph 5:23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.

Eph 5:24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.

Eph 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

Eph 5:26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

Eph 5:27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

Eph 5:28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.

The Application Of Jesus's Words

Mar 12:29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:

Mar 12:30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

Mar 12:31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.

"O Lord My God, I Will Give Thanks To You Forever."

‘I will exalt You, O Lord’(Psalm 30:1). God is not exalted because we exalt Him. We exalt Him because He is exalted: ‘He is exalted, for ever exalted, and I will praise His Name’(Mission Praise,217). How do we come to the point where we say, ‘I will exalt You, O Lord’? We realize our need of Him - ‘when You hid Your face, I was dismayed’(Psalm 30:7). We look to Him for mercy - ‘To You, O Lord, I called; to the Lord, I cried for mercy’(Psalm 30:8). God hears and answers our prayer - ‘You turned my wailing into dancing; You removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy’(11). God calls us to worship Him - ‘Sing praises to the Lord, O you His saints, and give thanks to His holy Name’(Psalm 30:4). ‘The joy of the Lord’, His ‘unutterable and exalted joy’, gives us ‘strength’(Nehemiah 8:10; 1 Peter 1:8). We worship God: ‘O Lord my God, I will give thanks to You forever’(Psalm 30:12).

Your Future

We all ponder and wonder what our future holds. Not only in the days to come here on earth, but also for eternity. Actually it's a biggy! Eternity!

One things for certain. Through Christ our future is secure regarding eternity. However, even while here on earth, through Christ our future is also secure.

His mercies are new every morning and His love endures forever. He cares for each of us, loves us unconditionally and when we submit to His plans and purposes for our lives, we remain in the palm of His hands.

What a friend we have in Jesus.

God shed His Grace On Thee

May the church rise up and speak boldly against those that would attempt to silence prayer in this nation. May the church rise up against those that would seek to cast God aside and out of this nations future.

Rise up in prayer, as prayer warriors and intercessors and pray the prayers that David prayed. For in prayer there is more accomplished than in arguing and debating. Prayer moves God to bring change and silence those that would oppose His ways.

Finding Victory In The Midst Of Hardships

Ok, so maybe things are just not perfect. Maybe some plans, hopes and dreams have been derailed. It does happen and sometimes the seasons just seem to come with storms.

Let me encourage you to press through the storms. Now that might sound like a lot to ask, however one things is certain. Once the storm clears, the sun shines. Therefore, persevere in God.

The Work Of The Holy Spirit

* The Holy Spirit glorifies Jesus Christ.

* The Holy Spirit breathes new life into the Church of God.

* The Holy Spirit leads us into a life of worship.

* The Holy Spirit leads us on to heavenly and eternal glory.

* The Holy Spirit leads us in the way of victory.

There Shall Be Famines, And Pestilences, And Earthquakes

Mat 24:6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

Mat 24:7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.

Mat 24:8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.

New Ministry

This evening, I begin a new ministry at St Andrew's Church, Dumbarton.

The Holy Spirit Leads Us In The Way Of Victory.

Jesus was ‘persecuted’. We will be ‘persecuted’ - ‘all who desire to live a godly life will be persecuted’ (John 15:20; 2 Timothy 3:12). We have no guarantee that life will be easy. In all our difficulties, ‘the Spirit of truth’ directs our attention to Jesus our Saviour (John 15:26; 16:13-15). Whatever our problems, we draw encouragement from Jesus’ words: ‘In the world you have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world’ (John 16:33). Here, we have realism and faith. The world is trying to squeeze us into its own mould (Romans 12:2). Sometimes, we feel like faith is slipping away. Sometimes, we feel like giving up. What are we to say to all this? ‘Who is it that overcomes the world but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?’ - This is our faith’ (1 John 5:4-5).

Is God Your Rock, The Rock Of Your Salvation

Psa 78:35 And they remembered that God was their rock, and the high God their redeemer.

Psa 78:36 Nevertheless they did flatter him with their mouth, and they lied unto him with their tongues.

Psa 78:37 For their heart was not right with him, neither were they stedfast in his covenant.

Psa 78:38 But he, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, and destroyed them not: yea, many a time turned he his anger away, and did not stir up all his wrath.

Psa 78:39 For he remembered that they were but flesh; a wind that passeth away, and cometh not again.

"Ask ... Seek ... Knock ..."

Luke 11:1-13
"Ask ... seek ... knock ... " (Luke 11:9) - Jesus is calling us to pray. " ... how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him" (Luke 11:13) God answers prayer. The Holy Spirit is God's answer. God is good. God is love. This is Jesus' teaching. This is the teaching which encourages us to ask, seek and knock. God is good. God is love. This is the teaching which gives us the assurance that God is waiting for us to come to Him. God is good. God is love. This is the teaching that assures us that God wants to bless us. God is good. God is love. This is the teaching that calls us to prayer. We ask the Lord to reveal Himself to us. He is the God who loves us. We seek the Lord's presence. We pray that He will come to us with His blessing. We knock on the door of God's heart. We pray that He will open His heart to us. We pray the He will pour upon us a superabundant blessing. The Lord loves to hear and answer the prayers of those who long to know Him and serve Him. He answers our prayers by pointing us to Jesus, His Son, our Saviour.

The Love Of God, The Power Of God And The Glory Of God

The widow's son is raised from death by Jesus. What a wonderful miracle this is! In this great miracle, we see the love of God, the power of God and the glory of God.
(1) Love - "When the Lord saw her, His heart went out to her and He said,'Don't cry'" (Luke 7:13).
(2) Power - "He said, 'Young man, I say to you, get up!' The dead man sat up and began to talk" (Luke 7:14-15).
(3) Glory - "They were all filled with awe and praised God" (Luke 7:16).
In this story, we hear the Word of the Lord. It is the Word of His love. It is the Word of His power. It is the Word of His glory. This is the Gospel. It's the Good News. There's a place in God's heart for us. His heart is full of love for us. This is the Good News that comes to us with power. It's the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes in Jesus Christ. It's the Good News that leads us on to glory. It leads us on to God's heavenly and eternal glory.

The Way Of The World And The Way Of The Lord

When we read the words of Jesus Christ, we are reading the words of a Preacher who spoke the truth without fear of man. Again and again, as we read Jesus' words, we find that there is a striking difference between what the world says and what the Lord says. the way of the world and the way of the Lord are two very different ways. When Jesus preached His challenging messages, there were those who closed their minds to the Word of God. They closed their hearts to the love of God. They closed their lives to the power of God. As we read Jesus' words, we are challenged. Jesus challenges us: Are you open to the Word of God, the love of God and the power of God? Is your mind open - to receive the challenging teaching of God's Word? Is your heart open - to enjoy the heart-warming influence of God's love? Is your life open - to experience the life-changing effects of God's power?
