Believe Not Every Spirit That Speaks

There are tons of prophecies out there, tons of posts about revelation and a endless canvas of prophetic pictures. Yes God can speak through His prophets, and the prophetic ministry is an extension and part of the Kingdom.

Yet! test such things.

Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

The Strength Of Covenants

A Song of degrees of David

Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!

It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron's beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments;

Psa 133:3 As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew] that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.

Through Christ's Death On The Cross, God Has Provided For Us A Full Salvation!

Having chosen the way of sin, we are ‘naked’ and ashamed (Genesis 3:10). The Gospel teaches us that ‘there’s a way back to God from the dark paths of sin’. We can be clothed with the righteousness of Christ. We can bring the ‘filthy rags’ of ‘our righteous acts’ (Isaiah 64:6) to God, and we can exchange them for the perfect righteousness of Christ (2 Corinthians 5:21). Putting our trust in Christ, we need not be ashamed in God’s presence (Romans 10:11). There must be no ‘passing the buck’ - the man blaming the woman, the woman blaming the serpent (Genesis 3:12-13). We are to confess our sins and receive God’s forgiveness (1 John 1:9). This forgiveness comes to us through the Cross where the suffering Saviour becomes the victorious Victor and the subtle serpent became the defeated devil. This is the message of Genesis 3:15. Through the Cross, God has provided for us a full salvation!

‘Our Sins’ Are Great. The Love Of God Is Even Greater.

At the heart of Ezra’s prayer, there is a tremendous description of God: ‘You are a God ready to forgive, gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love’ (Nehemiah 9:17). This is ‘our God’. ‘Our sins’ are great. The love of God is even greater. We look at ‘our sins’, and we feel that everything is hopeless. We look to ‘our God’, and everything changes. We see Him as the ‘gracious and merciful God’, and we are filled with hope. Our life need not be controlled by ‘our sins’. It can be changed by ‘our God’ (Nehemiah 9:31-32, 37). Our God ‘delights in steadfast love’. He ‘will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea’ (Micah 7:18-19). How do we know that God loves us? - ‘Christ died for our sins’. Bring your sins to Jesus, and let ‘His blood cleanse you from all sin’ (1 Corinthians 15:3; 1 John 1:7).

"You May Not Be A Moses Or A Joshua ... "

Worldly people create problems (Exodus 17:3). Moses asks, ‘What shall I do...?’ (Exodus 17:4). Indecision asks, ‘Is the Lord among us or not?’ (Exodus 17:7). He gives victory (Exodus 17:8-9, 13). Joshua is being equipped for special service - ‘in the ears of Joshua’ (Exodus 17:14). God’s great concern is that His people move forward together. The work is not to be left to the few (Exodus 18:18). God is looking to faithful servants who will ‘bear the burden’ together (Exodus 18:21-22). There is much to be done, but we must never forget this: ‘prayer and the ministry of the Word’ (Acts 6:1-4). You may not be a Moses or a Joshua, but you can play your part. We rejoice in who God is and what He has done for us. Assured of His presence with us, let us worship Him: ‘Blessed be the Lord...’ (Exodus 18:10-11).

"Look to the Lord ... "

Look to the Lord for help. Pray that the Lord's Name will be glorified.

A Call To Prayer And A Promise Of Blessing

In 2 Chronicles 7:14, there is a call to prayer and promise of blessing: ‘If My people who are called by My Name humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their hand’. Why is there so little blessing? - ‘You do not have, because you do not ask’. God will bless mightily - when His people pray earnestly. Why does the devil have so many victories among us? - ‘Resist the devil, and he will flee from you’. God will lead us in His way of victory - when we stop tolerating the devil, and start resisting him. Why does God seem so far away? - ‘Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you’ (James 4:2,7-8). God will come near to us - if we will let Him. ‘I stand at the door and knock; if any one... opens the door, I will come in...’ (Revelation 3:20).

Keep Reminding Satan Of Christ's Victory.

‘Satan stood up against Israel...’ (1 Chronicles 21:1). ‘Satan’ is ‘the devil’ (Revelation 12:7). He is a powerful enemy. We must not underestimate him. In the service of the Lord, we face strong opposition. It is is not merely human - ‘our struggle is not against flesh and blood’. It is much more powerful - ‘the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms’ (Ephesians 6:12). Satan is very powerful. When he wins a victory over you, confess your sin to God and seek His forgiveness, believing that ‘His mercy is very great’ (1 Chronicles 21:8, 13). Be careful not to overestimate Satan. Christ is more powerful (Colossians 2: 13-15; Hebrews 2:14-15; 1 John 3:8). Christ has won the victory. In Him, we have the victory - ‘they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb’ (Revelation 12:10-11). Keep reminding Satan of Christ’s victory. Don’t let him forget it!

The Nations

Isa 40:12 Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and meted out heaven with the span, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?

Isa 40:13 Who hath directed the Spirit of the LORD, or being his counsellor hath taught him?

Isa 40:14 With whom took he counsel, and who instructed him, and taught him in the path of judgment, and taught him knowledge, and shewed to him the way of understanding?

Isa 40:15 Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance: behold, he taketh up the isles as a very little thing.

"Is There Any Hope For Us? ... "

Is there any hope for us? Our situation seems hopeless - until we look to Jesus.

--------------------

"Who can stand before Me?" (Job 41:10). God puts this question to every one of us. God's Word gives two answers to this question. The first answer speaks to us of our sin. The second answer speaks to us of our Saviour. The first thing God says to us is this: "There is no-one righteous, not even one" (Romans 3:10). The question is asked, "ho shall ascend the hill of the Lord? Who shall stand in His holy place?" The answer is given, "He who has clean hands and a pure heart...He will receive blessing from the Lord" (Psalm 24:3-5). We read these words, and we wonder, "Is there any hope for us?" Our situation seems hopeless - until we look to Jesus, the Man "without sin", "the beloved Son with whom God is well pleased", the Saviour who "died for our sins" (Hebrews 4:14-16; Matthew 3:16-17; 1 Corinthians 15:3).

Not Everyone, Only Those Whom

Mat 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

What is the Will of the Father?

"Treasures On Earth ... "

Treasures on earth, treasures in heaven - Which world is most important to you?

--------------------

This thought is taken from

Ecclesiastes 5:1-6:12

"The man who loves money can never have enough" (5:10). Some people are never satisfied, They're always wanting more. This is the world's way. The more you have, the more you want. The Lord's way is very different: "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth...Lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven...Do not be anxious, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?'...Seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things shall be yours as well." "Has not God chosen those who are poor in the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the Kingdom which He has promised to those who love Him?" (Matthew 6:21-23,31-33; James 2:5). There's more to life than "getting on in the world." "Treasures on earth, treasures in heaven" - Which world is most important to you?

The Coming Of The Son Of Man

Mat 24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

Mat 24:36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

Mat 24:37 But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

Mat 24:38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,

Mat 24:39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

His Mercies Endure Forever

Psa 138:1 A Psalm of David. I will praise thee with my whole heart: before the gods will I sing praise unto thee.

Psa 138:2 I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.

Psa 138:3 In the day when I cried thou answeredst me, and strengthenedst me with strength in my soul.

Psa 138:4 All the kings of the earth shall praise thee, O LORD, when they hear the words of thy mouth.

Psa 138:5 Yea, they shall sing in the ways of the LORD: for great is the glory of the LORD.

Psa 138:6 Though the LORD be high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly: but the proud he knoweth afar off.

Psa 138:7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me: thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me.

Psa 138:8 The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O LORD, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands.

Humble, Pray, Seek, Turn

2Ch 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
